Sewer Line Replacement in Oklahoma City: A Fresh Start.

At a home in northwest Oklahoma City, this homeowner couldn’t use his own bathroom. His roughly 60-year-old sewer line was no longer serviceable, and getting it replaced would take more than a straightforward dig.

TradeStrong located the line, obtained city drawings, and worked through a difficult backyard excavation. When we uncovered a collapsed section of the city sewer main, we coordinated with the city’s line maintenance crew to make the connection possible.

The Challenge: A Failed Line and a Collapsed City Main

At this northwest Oklahoma City home, the customer’s old sewer line needed replacement. At the connection point, the city main also needed attention before the new line could be tapped in.

  • Approximately 60-year-old sewer line
  • Excavator access through a neighboring backyard
  • City drawings obtained before digging
  • Collapsed city main uncovered
  • City line maintenance repair coordinated
  • Complete replacement and new city tap

From Locating the Line to Restoring Service

We started by locating the customer’s sewer line and contacting the city for its drawings. With excavator access through the neighbor’s backyard, we dug down to the connection.

The water-filled hole in the photo shows the collapsed city main. We contacted line maintenance, and the city crew came out, excavated its main, and made a small repair so we could connect the customer’s new line.

  • Locate the existing sewer line
  • Obtain city drawings and plan access
  • Excavate and identify the failed connection
  • Coordinate the city’s main repair
  • Install replacement sewer piping
  • Connect the new city tap

With the sewer line completely replaced and the new city tap connected, the homeowner has working plumbing again. A difficult week ended with a basic comfort restored: being able to use his own bathroom.
